David Nicksay is the principal executive at Heliopolis Entertainment

David Nicksay is currently the Co-Executive Producer of STATION ELEVEN, a ten hour limited series to stream on HBO Max in 2021. The project is a film adaptation of the award-winning novel of the same name. STATION ELEVEN  is a post-apocalyptic saga spanning multiple timelines, and tells the stories of survivors of a devastating flu as they attempt to rebuild and reimagine the world anew while holding on to the best of what’s been lost. MacKenzie Davis and Himesh Patel star.

 

Nicksay most recently executive produced IN THE HEIGHTS, the film adaptation of Lin-Manuel Miranda’s Tony award winning musical. Jon M Chu directs, his first film since the breakout hit CRAZY RICH ASIANS. Anthony Ramos, Melissa Barrera, Corey Hawkins, Leslie Grace, Jimmy Smits, Daphne Rubin-Vega, Stephanie Beatriz, Dascha Polanco, and Olga Merediz play the ensemble leads in IN THE HEIGHTS, alongside Miranda who takes a cameo role.

      

David previously produced MESSIAH for Netflix. The international drama is a uniquely 21st century political thriller that charts the world’s reaction to a man who emerges from the Middle East, creating a groundswell of followers who claim he is sent by God. Is he what they say he is? Or is he a dangerous fraud bent on dismantling the world’s geopolitical order and causing civil havoc throughout regions as he beguiles and manipulates the world’s media and its audience? The story is told from multiple viewpoints, including a US Intelligence officer (played by Michelle Monaghan,) a Palestinian refugee, an Israeli Shin Bet officer, a Latino preacher and his daughter.

The show began streaming on Netflix in early 2020.

 

David Nicksay served as Executive Producer of PITCH PERFECT 3, which was released in December 2017 by Universal Pictures. The madcap musical is the third in a trilogy featuring the Bellas, an acapellla group led by Anna Kendrick, Rebel Wilson, Brittany Snow, Anna Camp, and Hailee Steinfeld. The film was shot in Atlanta, France, and Spain.

 

Nicksay was Executive Producer of BIRTH OF THE DRAGON, released in August 2017 by BH TILT and WWE Studios. The kung fu action film tells the story of a legendary private showdown in San Francisco in 1964 between the forward thinking young Bruce Lee and a rival, more traditional kung fu master. The film was shot in Vancouver, San Francisco, and mainland China.

 

David Nicksay was Executive Producer of WALKING WITH DINOSAURS THE 3D MOVIE, released in December 2013 by 20th Century Fox. The immersive stereoscopic adventure featured sophisticated computer graphics recreating the dinosaurs of the Cretaceous period, combined with live action backgrounds shot in Alaska and New Zealand.

 

David was Executive Producer of numerous other 3D films, including GLEE! THE 3D CONCERT MOVIE, released August 2011 by 20th Century Fox. This film came on the heels of the hit JUSTIN BIEBER: NEVER SAY NEVER, a 3D concert film/documentary from Paramount Pictures. Prior to that, Nicksay was Executive Producer of STEP UP 3D for Touchstone/Summit.

 

David’s previous Executive Producer credits include SURROGATES, starring Bruce Willis, and STEP UP 2 THE STREETS, both released by Walt Disney Pictures.

 

Nicksay was Executive Producer of Married Life, starring Pierce Brosnan, Chris Cooper, Patricia Clarkson, and Rachel McAdams. He was Producer of Be Cool, starring John Travolta, Uma Thurman, Vince Vaughn, and Dwayne “The Rock” Johnson. Nicksay was Producer of the Reese Witherspoon comedy Legally Blonde 2: Red White and Blonde, and was Co-Producer of the original Legally Blonde. Before that, he produced the two teenage secret agent action comedies, Agent Cody Banks and Agent Cody Banks 2: Destination London, starring Frankie Muniz.

 

David produced A Guy Thing, starring Jason Lee and Julia Stiles, executive produced What’s the Worst That Could Happen? starring Martin Lawrence and Danny Devito, and produced the high tech thriller Antitrust, starring Ryan Phillippe and Tim Robbins.

 

Nicksay served as Executive Producer of the live action/animation comedy The Adventures of Rocky & Bullwinkle starring Robert DeNiro and Rene Russo, of The Negotiator, starring Samuel L. Jackson and Kevin Spacey, and of Flubber, starring Robin Williams. Nicksay produced Up Close & Personal, with Robert Redford and Michelle Pfeiffer, and was Executive Producer of Addams Family Values.

 

As a studio executive, Nicksay was President and Head of Production at Morgan Creek Productions. Additionally, he served as Executive Producer on 6 of the company’s pictures, including Robin Hood: Prince of Thieves, Pacific Heights, and Young Guns II. Prior to that, he was Senior Vice President of Production at Paramount Pictures, where he served as an executive on Ghost, Coming to America, The Untouchables, Scrooged, Star Trek V, and The Two Jakes

 

He was Producer of the MGM film Mrs. Soffel starring Mel Gibson, Diane Keaton, and Matthew Modine. The film was directed by Gillian Armstrong.

 

He is an Emmy nominee, and is a member of the Academy of Motion Picture Arts and Sciences, the Producers Guild of America, and the Directors Guild of America. He serves on the American Film Institute Education and Training Advisory Board and is also a Senior Lecturer in Digital Media at Otis College of Art and Design.
